Healthy New Years Resolutions

Healthy New Year’s Resolutions

I can’t believe that the New Year is upon us! This year has really flown by! I mean, every year flies by, but for some reason this one seems to have gone faster than normal. Or is it just me?

Anyways, with the New Year being just days away, I have started thinking about New Years Resolutions and my goals and plans for the upcoming year!

I have a lot of goals (probably more than I will realistically be able to accomplish;). Some of my Resolutions are about health, some are bible based, some are focused on my family and our small farm, and some are in regards to my blog.

But the resolutions that I want to share with you today are about Essential Oils!

5 resolutions to be exact!

I think that most of us have heard about and have used essential oils.

We know that they are good for us. We know that they are powerful and have amazing therapeutic qualities. But do we use them like we should?

Do we use them everyday?

Are there products that we use on a regular basis that essential oils could replace?

Do we get the full benefit from the oils that we have bought, or do they sit on a shelf?

Today I am going to challenge you to set some essential oil resolutions!

This year we are going to change the way that we use essential oils! We are going to receive the full benefit that these powerful little drops contain!

How? I’m glad that you asked!

Below are a list of 5 essential oil resolutions and the ways that we can implement them into our lives.

These resolutions will be easy to do and will benefit you and your family greatly!

How to Incorporate Essential Oils Into Daily Life

1. Use at least one Essential Oil every day!

Now you might be thinking, “That’s easy, I do that already!”

But think back over the last year. How many days were you in a hurry and thought, “I’ll use that oil later.”?

Or how many nights did you lay in bed and think “I forgot to rub essential oils on the kids before bed!”?

I know it happens, I do it too. And I’m the Aromatherapist, oils are my life!

So how can we make sure that we use at least one oil every day? Here are some tips that I’ve found to be helpful.

Start your day by using your oils

Do it first thing in the morning. That way, if your day gets crazy, you’ve already got one oil in!

Rub some Tea Tree on the bottoms of your feet. Rub the kids feet with some Spice of Life or Eucalyptus before heading off to school. Start the day with an immune system boost!

Add a few drops of essential oil to your water bottle before leaving the house.

If you’re a homeschool mom like me, add an oil to everyone’s water befor starting school for the day. I love to use orange oil in our water to encourage creativity and happy cheerful thoughts! Lemon is also a very uplifting oil that promotes concentration.

And be sure to read about the best essential oil water purifier as well! Definitely an added benefit!

Healthy New Years Resolutions

Carry essential oils in your purse.

I carry a bottle of my Antibacterial Kids Hand Sanitizer Spray in my purse at all times, as well as my skin softener lotion.

I also like to carry a bottle of peppermint just in case someone (meaning my oldest daughter!) gets car sick.

Store your oils in an easily accessible spot!

I know this doesn’t sound like a big deal, but trust me, it is! If your oils are in a box in the cabinet, or in a case under the bed, are you going to remember to use them?

Store your oils where you can see them.

I understand that with children oils have to be out of reach of little hands, but make sure that they are in a place that you will see them.

I have oils all over my house! I have oils on my kitchen counter, on my dresser, in my purse, in the bathroom etc..

When your oils are accessible you will use them more.

And I also find that when they are in sight, my husband tends to use them more as well!

Essential Oil Tips and Tricks

2. Try a new Essential Oil every month!

This is a great resolution! I know that it is easy to get into a routine of using the same few oils over and over and over again. Why not spice it up a little?!

Each essential oil contains health benefits that other oils do not. So why not use a variety of oils to benefit from lots of different therapeutic qualities?

For example, Tea Tree is an excellent anti fungal while Myrrh is excellent for skin repair. Cinnamon is anti parasitic while Ylang Ylang is an excellent aphrodisiac.

We all have our favorite oils, but variety is healthy!

And by using new essential oils you might discover a new favorite! I have some new oils that I have been wanting to try.

The newest addition to my oils is Turmeric essential oil

What are some ways that we can be sure to use a new oil every month?

Start by selecting your new oil at the first of the month.

Maybe there is an oil that you have read about on Pinterest. Or you heard another mom talking about how awesome a certain oil is.

Pick an oil and make it your official ‘Oil of the month’. Sit it out and incorporate it into your daily routine.

Maybe you have a friend, or a group of moms that would be interested in starting an oil of the month as well.

It might be something fun to do with others! Then everyone can report back at the end of the month and tell how the oil benefited them and if they liked it.

Daily Essential Oil Tips

3. Establish a bedtime routine using your essential oils.

Essential oils are an excellent way to end your day!

Why not let essential oils help you to wind down, and go to work for your body while you are sleeping?!

What are some ways that we can use essential oils at bedtime?

Take an essential oil bath!

Baths are an excellent way to release not only stress and tension, but toxins from the body. If you are interested in taking an essential oil bath then be sure to read about how to use essential oils in the bath as well as the best essential oils to use in the bath!

This is a great way to help kids unwind before bed as well!

Apply a massage oil containing essential oils.

I love to use the Children’s Bedtime Massage Oil on the kids before bed. It encourages a good nights sleep, relaxes the mind and body, and helps prevent nightmares.

For myself I love to use the Pampered Feet Massage Oil. I apply it to my feet and then put on socks as I’m going to bed. It makes me feel so relaxed, sleep well, and wake up with super soft feet!

If you would like to learn how to make this for yourself you can find the recipe, along with many other beauty and body care essential oil recipes, here! These are recipes that I not only use for myself but for clients as well!

Use an essential oil linen spray!

I love the Relaxing Linen Spray (another great recipe included in the beauty and body care recipes!). It smells so yummy, makes me feel happy and helps me sleep soundly.

For kids I recommend the Night Fright Spray. It helps prevent bad dreams, relaxes and promotes a great night sleep.

And the kids love to spray it themselves. They spray it on their sheets, pillows, PJs and stuffed animals!

Diffuse essential oils while sleeping.

I love to diffuse essential oils in my kids rooms at night. I Diffuse essential oils for immune support, colds and flus, relaxing oils, etc. Don’t leave the diffuser on all night, but diffuse for about five minutes on, fifteen minutes off for several cycles.

Ways to Use Essential Oils

4. Replace household products with essential oils.

This is a great way to incorporate essential oils every day without even having to think about it!

Here are some ways that I have replaced my old products for products containing essential oils:

In the shower:

We use shampoo and conditioner that contain not only pure organic ingredients but essential oils!

You can either add essential oils to the shampoo that  you already have or purchase the one that I use from my favorite essential oil company

Cleaning supplies:

I know lots of us use homemade natural cleaners such as vinegars, lemon juice, baking soda and plant enzymes to clean our homes. Why not add a few drops of essential oils to that as well?

I have compiled for you some of my favorite essential oils for cleaning your home naturally, the best essential oils to clean your dishwasher and dishes, as well as the best essential oils to use in the laundry!

Room Sprays:

I love to make room sprays!

They are natural deodorizers, air purifiers and bacteria killers! Not to mention that they leave your home smelling fresh and happy.

My best selling room spray is the Happy Home Room Spray. It has a nice cinnamon citrus scent that leaves your home feeling warm and inviting.
