I had a black snake lay her eggs in the bottom of a pot of sanseveria. when brought in for winter the eggs hatched out in the house and i had to catch them and evict to outside. that is when i learned they have markings of dark gray look like rattlesnakes to fool predators.
Hi, one of my god brothers was tired of me being such a scaredy cat when it came to snakes. So he had me make up about 20 braided prices of yarn in different colors and lengths. Then every week my husband was to place them all over the yard. He gave me a long handled tool I was to not go in the back yard without. I used it instead of my cane. Every time I came across one if my homemade snakes I was to take my “hoe” and just beat the bugeeus out of it while I yelled a d screamed at it as to his IT made me feel. After several months my husband came in saying, ” Babe I meaning to tell you that you’ve apparently killed off all of our snakes and the word as spread to the others , because I haven’t had to bury a snake NIW in about 3 weeks.” I fainted! Ok so after I recovered he explained to me I’d been killing the real snakes from the very beginning. They just decided I didn’t need to know that just yet. We also noticed I was a lot calmer because I had taken all of my “fears” out on some colorful yarn. So ladies I’m here to tell you, fear can be over come. Don’t let it rule your life. Take control. Fight back with wisdom and enjoy life. I did it at 70. You can too. Be blessed
Jeez

Deer hate the smell of original recipe IRISH Spring bath bars and will steer clear of any plant near it. I use it around hostas and daylilies every year with very good luck.
I don’t have a garden but my brother does, this is the first year he has had deer trouble. He’s tried a few things he found on the www, they only lasted a day or two. He has a big garden, feeds alot of people. He let it all go this year and went on vacation!

For anyone reading this, while they aren’t plants, to repel snakes…
1) Lye (the type used on a farm, and You can buy at your local “Feed & Seed” store at 10lbs for Less than $20)…But, be sure to wear a particle breathing mask, tape your wrists, etc avoid breathing or skin/eye contact+change clothes+shower immediately after use..BUT, spreading Lye under your home, around the boundary of Your home’s outside+walls, especially under Your home, helps to keep out snakes, insects, rodents, etc..because, it literally burns their skin & eyes, so just like you would, everything STAYS AWAY!!
2) More Safe & Natural as it can be used around both Humans and pets, is Diatomaceous Earth (food grade), it is ground up rock/crystal, and is like cut glass to snakes, mice/rats/critters, insects=it even gets in between their exoskeleton joints or something like that, point is, They all don’t like it, and they avoid it (must be reapplied if it gets wet)…as I said, safe for humans and pets..so safe to use indoors, unlike lye which is NOT to used anywhere near Ppl, much less indoors-NOT for Indoor use!.. (You can even douse your pet in it to treat them for fleas!), and there are even some Ppl who eat a spoonful of it to treat or prevent intestinal pests…imho.. a bit unnecessary & I wouldn’t do it unless I had some weird intestinal parasite, but it is safe enough that Ppl do eat it, hence, food grade.
Anyways, there you go! I hope this info helps someone out there who has a fear of snakes to feel more comfortable, and less worried. Good Luck & Stay Safe out there!…p.s. Black Snakes & King Snakes are your friend, think of them as Your guardians, because with them, you won’t have any other snake around, so they’re out there watching out for you & guarding your home from
the ‘bad guys’..*smiles*
